Sony A7 III - A Go-To Camera for Corporate Event Photography
Every year, there's a new body promising better autofocus, faster burst rates, more megapixels and enough video features to make a Hollywood director raise an eyebrow.
And yet, despite all the shiny new options on the market, I keep coming back to the Sony A7 III.
It's not the newest camera in Sony's line-up. It's not the most expensive in my bag. It doesn't have the highest-resolution sensor. But what it does have is something that matters far more when you're shooting real-world events: reliability.
The Camera That Just Gets On With It
When I’m photographing corporate events, conferences, networking evenings and exhibitions, the last thing I want is to be thinking about my camera.

It’s perfect for speaker portraits, networking conversations and candid moments that feel authentic rather than staged.
Sony FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM II
For versatility, it’s difficult to beat the Sony FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM II.
This lens spends a lot of time attached to my camera during conferences and exhibitions. One moment I’m capturing a wide shot of a packed keynote session, and the next I’m zooming in for a speaker portrait without changing lenses.
It’s sharp, fast and incredibly reliable.
Sony FE 70-200mm F2.8 GM OSS II
When I need to remain completely unobtrusive, the 70-200mm comes into its own.
This is particularly useful for conferences where I want to capture speakers naturally from the back of the room, or when photographing awards ceremonies where getting physically close isn’t always possible.
The compression and subject separation this lens provides can make even the busiest venue look clean and professional.
Sony FE 35mm F1.4 GM
For event atmosphere and storytelling, the Sony FE 35mm F1.4 GM is a fantastic option.
It creates images that feel immersive and allows viewers to feel like they’re part of the event rather than simply observing it.
It’s a lens I often reach for when creating content that will be used on social media and marketing campaigns.
More Than Just a Photography Camera
While photography remains my primary use case, the Sony A7 III is also a very capable video camera.
Many of my clients require a mixture of photography and video content. Having a camera that can comfortably handle both allows me to deliver more value from a single event.
Whether it’s social media clips, event highlights or short promotional content, the A7 III continues to perform exceptionally well.
It’s Not About Having the Newest Camera
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned throughout my career is that clients don’t hire photographers because they own the latest camera. The Sony A7 III allows me to do all of those things without getting in the way.

The Sony A7 III might not be the newest camera in my kit bag by a long shot, but it’s undoubtedly a very capable camera.
It’s dependable, versatile, comfortable to use and produces excellent results in a huge variety of situations. For corporate events, conferences, networking evenings and exhibitions, it’s proven itself time and time again.
In an industry where new gear often steals the spotlight, sometimes it’s worth celebrating the camera that simply turns up, works hard and never complains. A bit like the event photographer carrying it.
